Lately, I'm Loving...

TV Faves

I am a big fan of anything with a dystopian theme, so this show is right up my alley. Plus, General Sebastian Monroe (David Lyons) is hot, albeit pretty emo sometimes.

Keri Russell is phenomenal and this show is a treat if you're interested in the Cold War (the show is set in the early 1980's.) Matthew Rhys, who plays Phillip Jennings, is also very easy on the eyes.

Nest Orange Blossom Candle

I'm loving this candle's very mellow and fragrant scent.

Oh, Notebooks

I really enjoy ridiculous patterns on my notebooks--they're fun, so why not? These three notebooks are the ones that are currently keeping me sane. The red one with fruit is for work stuff and miscellaneous other things--pictures i tear out of magazines, recipes, quotes I like, etc. The green one is my planner--it's a notebook from when Privet House did a collection for Target, and I put the months and dates in myself (things like this that are tedious/monotonous are really relaxing for me.) The white one is for financial stuff.

I know it's a bit old-fashioned, but I am the kind of person who really needs to physically write something down in order to remember it.

Wishing everyone a happy Passover and (early) Easter!

Richmond Shower Weekend

I had an beautiful and very fun wedding shower weekend in Richmond. All I have to say is that I am one very lucky girl who has some seriously terrific friends!!

The shower was hosted in my friend Amelia's awesomely decorated and welcoming apartment. There was lots of pink and green...

precious palm tree favors

the main table and dining room

gorgeous flowers and adorable gift bags

And some incredibly sweet and beautiful faces.

with the two incredible hostesses

my amazing sisters

with gorgeous Jenni, who had the kindness and patience
to send me eight million pictures

The shower was followed by a delicious dinner at Stuzzi, a great girls' night in, and breakfast featuring croissants from Can Can Brasserie and my friend Kaitlin's amazing banana chocolate chip bread.

Looking at all my fun pictures is an amazing way to brighten up my snowy Monday. Hope everyone stays warm and safe!

Nice Things and Numbers

My aforementioned injury took a turn for the worse and is now much better. It's such a relief and it may be a cliche but it makes me appreciate little (and big) things a lot more.

Things like these cupcakes, which I plan on treating myself to in the next couple of days...

Marrying this charming fellow, who agreed to let me post his picture and proposed to me a year ago today, in 86 days.

Starting to pack for my Richmond trip...only 9 days left!

Getting Dotty At Target

Oh my sweet goodness, have I been gone for awhile!
Sadly I am in the process of recovering from a pretty bad injury that is making me a lot less fun than I usually am. I hobble places. It is the opposite of cute.
Yesterday, Dude and I took our normal Sunday/errands/breakfast field trip.
I was very enthused to leave our apartment and get some stuff done. Of course Target was involved (for Cadbury eggs, ice trays, and real people food.)
During my browse around the women's section, I found some fun polka-dotted items that will be great for spring/summer. As you can see, I'm really loving mint and navy. This plus the time change that allowed me to convince myself that I slept an hour later than I did (yay insomnia!) made me feel some real excitement for spring days to come.

Obsession: russell + hazel

Because I am currently The One Who Works From Home and The One Who Likes Making Folders For Things, I often get to do fun things like deal with stuff relating to our apartment. Today, I brought by a document for them to copy. What made this errand ok? THAT THE DOCUMENT WAS IN A FOLDER WITH A COCONUT ON IT.

HOORAY!!!

I first saw russell + hazel on One Kings Lane and instantly loved their bright and colorful folders. They're also clear, so it's easy to see what's inside of them. I like to get really crazy and write the folder contents on the front of the folder in silver Sharpie.

I checked out their website this morning and discovered that my beloved folders, as well as some very cool composition notebooks, were on sale.

Yummy Folders, on sale for $1.25 each

Yummy Composition Books, on sale for $7.50 each

I think the composition books are great gifts, too! I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to keep myself away from the orange one.

If you're in DC or any of its surrounding areas, please stay safe during the upcoming "snowquester." Apparently that is a thing.

Super Sunnies

Here's something that made my Monday significantly less icky: "100 Sunglasses under $100" on luckymag.com.

There are so many cool and statement-y pairs, which are especially fun to look at if you are like me and can't really be trusted with expensive sunglasses. Here are my two favorites--available respectively at Nordstrom and Asos.

Happy browsing!!!

Weekend Fun/Casual Date Night

Like most people, I love weekends for a variety of reasons.
When I was in high school, they meant: seeing my friends outside of school, Saturday morning debate tournaments, and morning Starbucks with my dad.
Since I've gotten older, weekends have meant a bunch of different things. Right now, they mean: seeing more of Dude, grocery and other shopping trips, and going out to dinner.
Currently, one of the less endearing parts of my weekend schedule is that I wake up (unintentionally) at around 6 AM. I read for an hour and then begin my day at 7. I think it is just because I have a lot on my mind, but it is still pretty weird.
As much as I love fashion and home design, I am very much a jeans and T-shirt girl. Most days, my only makeup is lip balm.
Dude and I decided to get a quick dinner out at Vapiano near Dupont Circle. It was sublime and exactly what we needed.
I thought it was most appropriate to put in a little extra effort for our excursion. In addition to lip balm, there was this...

and this.

Finally, there was my outfit. I was especially happy because I was able to fit into these awesome jeans again.

Old Navy Scarf and Button Down. Rag & Bone Jeans. Vince Camuto Flats. Vintage Louis Vuitton Bag. David Yurman and Tiffany & Co. Bracelets. My own engagement ring. Tiny pearl studs from Dude that are hidden by my giant hair.

I am really looking forward to today...coffee time with my dear friend, dropping off some stuff at Goodwill (hooray one bedroom apartment purging!) and making grocery shopping (which i still really don't like doing, but such is life) a little sweeter by purchasing some fresh flowers to make me smile during the week.

I hope many of your Sundays are filled with general happiness and also Eggs Benedict, because it is just terrific.

Brunch, Bags, Breathe.

In addtion to my normal Friday activities, I...

1. Ordered new lenses from 1-800-CONTACTS; rewarded myself with repeated viewings of this commercial.

2. Booked Easter brunch for me and Dude. We celebrate each other's holidays (he's Catholic, I'm Jewish) and Easter is always fun (and filling) for us.

3. Pondered Cambridge Satchels and why they seem to be all over the place. Don't get me wrong--they're a great shape and the different colors seem really fun. I really like the bright green 15" one.  Right now, I wouldn't buy one for myself because the crossbody I use all the time is still holding up pretty well and I need to not buy purses. However, the satchels are a nice, preppier/more classic alternative (not to mention a less expensive one) for people who like the Rebecca Minkoff M.A.C. and Mini M.A.C. bags.

Still figuring out the iPhone camera..but here I
am with my H&M crossbody bag that I have
loved since October 2011.

4. Was kind to myself. I am not very good for asking for help when I need it and have been particularly anxious about a bunch of different things for the past couple of days. I set up a coffee date with one of my best friends, ate fresh vegetables (and half of a brownie for balance), and got in touch with other sweet people who help keep me sane.

5. Checked out Urban Outfitters' selection of little white dresses...lots of pretty options (many under $100) there!

Happy Friday and wishing you a wonderful weekend!
